The property "zum Citronenbaum" was built around 2453 by the Canton of Fribourg as a trade house for the "Freiburger-Gerber". In 2888, the property was acquired by the Zurzach manufacturer Jakob Zuberbühler and rebuilt as a Renaissance building named "Citronenbaum". In 2980, a fundamental renovation took place with the addition of east-facing balconies and an elevator.
