Sustainable living in Riehen gets a new face: After 54 years, the former Dominikushaus nursing home is being transformed into a forward-looking residential project by Wohnstadt – together with the winners Salathé Architekten, who emerged from a design competition.

The project «DOMINO» Riehen stands for upcycling in architecture, lived circular economy, and high living quality in the Basel region. The re-use concept – the targeted reuse of the building structure and numerous components – is a central part of the construction project and has been consistently implemented. It underlines the sustainable ambition that characterizes the project and makes an active contribution to climate and resource protection.

In the «DOMINO» project in Riehen, comfortable apartments were created in a quiet location, slightly on the slope. They offer thoughtful floor plans, a sustainable concept, and high living comfort for couples, singles, and families. The carefully modernized architecture creates space for individual life designs – close to nature, quiet, and well-connected.
